The Mission
The Home Place is an independent living facility with a mission to provide affordable housing for the homeless living with HIV/AIDS.

A Place to Call Home

Since 1997, the Home Place has been providing a supportive and compassionate environment for at-risk and/or homeless people with a diagnosis of HIV/AIDS. Located in a convenient part of Chattanooga, the Home Place is close to hospitals and doctors’ offices, and is on the bus line.

The Home Place offers seven fully furnished efficiency style apartments, with private baths that feature all the necessary items for comfortable living. Common areas of the home include a kitchen, dining room, living room, deck, yard and cook-out area.

The Greatest Need

As with all Catholic Charities programs, the Home Place relies on private contributions to help meet the needs of its clients and the considerable cost of operating a residential program. Additionally, volunteers play a vital role in providing family style meals for the residents. Meals may be prepared on site, with help and interaction from the clients, or dropped off; more volunteers are always needed.

Catholic Charities of East Tennessee is the sponsor of a similar program, Goodman-Powell Court, in Knoxville.
