(A Housing Counseling Program)
Program Manager: Valarie Brown – email@example.com
Catholic Charities of East Tennessee has a new program called S.M.A.R.T., which teaches potential tenants budgeting, saving, credit management and good neighbor skills.
Landlords, as well as apartment and property managers are encouraged to join our program by becoming S.M.A.R.T. Landlords and reaping the benefits that come with having access to a pool of renter educated prospects that will make excellent future tenants.
By becoming a S.M.A.R.T. Landlord you will be giving previously credit-challenged applicants, who have now been given the tools to financial fitness, the opportunity to have adequate housing and regain credit worthiness.
In addition to financial counseling, our training also highlights good neighbor skills, home and pet maintenance, as well as zone and code violation information providing each potential renter the know-how to be a great tenant and wonderful neighbor.
Upon completion of the financial classes and individual rental counseling, the applicant will receive a S.M.A.R.T. certificate that lets you, the landlord, know that this person has the potential to be a great tenant. In addition, each client agrees that if their rent is late, even once, within the first six months, they can be referred back to our program for additional rental training and counseling.
This program is in partnership with U.T. Extension, Consumer Credit Counseling through the Partnership and the 28th Legislative District Community Development Corporation.
