CHAP is a home-based program of Catholic Charities of East Tennessee, Inc. that provides parenting education, crisis intervention, and case management for families that are experiencing life stressors that impact parenting abilities. These stressors may include mental and physical disabilities, social isolation, lack of transportation, lack of financial resources, unemployment, poor housing, marital/relationship conflict, drug and alcohol problems, and children with special needs that can overwhelm a parent. The purpose of this program is to provide services that will reduce the stressors and increase the parent's skills and coping abilities.

Additionally, the CHAP worker assists families in locating and utilizing other services in the community with the goal of empowering the family so that they can recognize issues as they arise and find their own positive solutions.

Transportation to other resources and providers may also be provided.
