FAMILY SUPPORT SERVICES Family Support Services has provided emergency assistance in the Northeast Tennessee area for more than 10 years. Last year more than 2,500 families and individuals were served. As with all Catholic Charities programs and services, support and assistance is available to anyone with demonstrated need, regardless of race, religion or ability to pay.
Available Assistance Assistance is available to help meet emergency needs related to household utilities and water and to hunger relief. Food boxes can include items culturally appropriate for Hispanic clients. Additionally, clients may be eligible for assistance with prescription medications, and for furniture, clothing and other household goods, depending on available resources. How the Program Works An emergency service program, FSS sees clients by appointment, on a one-on-one basis. Food clients are eligible every three months, with other assistance available once per year. Potential clients may call for their own appointment; a referral from another agency is not required. Our Greatest Need Family Support Service relies heavily on private donations to continue its services to needy families and individuals in the greater Tri-Cities area. Requests for assistance are on the increase, a trend that looks to continue in the current economy.
