WELCOME Regardless of my qualms, life went on and so did the holidays. As I enjoyed the love and companionship of family and friends, God gave me a little tap on the shoulder - actually, more of a kick in the pants! Three days before Christmas I met Charmin Glenn, the most recent "graduate" of our transitional housing program. Charmin had "come from the streets," lost custody of her children and spent time in prison. With the help of her Catholic Charities caseworker, Charmin is in stable housing and has regained custody of her children. "Now I have a home, warmth, friends and co-workers. I've been so blessed, my home feels like a mansion," Charmin said. Charmin has it right - when we are surrounded by love, wherever we are... we are home. Thanks to Catholic Charities donors and volunteers, thousands of East Tennesseans each year reclaim the stability and connections that are the essence of what "home" really means. God bless you in the new year! Fr. Ragan Schriver, ACSW Executive Director

"Home" has been on my mind lately, as I've moved from the rectory at Knoxville's All Saints Parish to the rectory at Holy Family, in Seymour, where I now serve as pastor. It's no secret that I like my routine - so I've struggled a little bit with this change-up! |
